The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has started the
process of deciding whether to cover the costly prostate cancer
immunotherapeutic agent sipuleucel-T (Provenge), according to a
recent Medical News Today report. The cost of Provenge is very
high. Each infusion reportedly costs $31,000 and three infusions
are needed in one month. In its National Coverage Decision (NCD),
CMS will decide whether paying for Provenge is reasonable and
necessary. CMS is requesting that the general public give comment
